PSG enters race for Nigerian eligible protege

18-year-old Aston Villa protege Carney Chukwuemeka is not just attracting interest from English clubs after bursting onto the scene.

The Nigerian eligible midfielder made 12 Premier League appearances last season, but clubs are on alert after Steven Gerrard left him out of his pre-season squad for their trip to Australia.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Chukwuemeka, who became European Under-19 champion with England earlier this month.

Now, The Mirror reports that Paris Saint-Germain have also entered the race to sign the teenager, who only has 12 months left to run on his current contract with the Lions.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Chukwuemeka, with Aston Villa now ready to cash in.
