Cardiff City have completed the signing of Tottenham striker Kion Etete.
Cardiff have won the race for his signature in a deal worth £500,000 plus add-ons. With fellow strikers Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett signing new deals recently, Etete’s future at Spurs looked to have been blocked and he has opted to bring an end to his three years in north London and sign for Steve Morison’s side.
Completing a medical with the Bluebirds on Wednesday morning, the Nigerian eligible striker has penned a three-year deal.
“It feels good to finally be here,” he said. “The manager went into a lot of detail about the plan for the season, and how they want me to play.
“It’s my job to try and fulfil that. When the players know what the gaffer wants from them, it’s easier to put it into motion on the pitch.
“Obviously having gone from League Two to League One, the Championship is the next one. I just can’t wait to get started, get used to the level, and hopefully excel,” Etete added.
The 20-year-old forward scored nine goals across loan spells at Northampton and Cheltenham during the 2021-22 season.
The Nigerian Football Federation have taken notice of 20-year-old forward Kion Etete after his impressive loans last season. They will watch him closely next season.
If Etete continues to impress they will look to approach the player to represent the Super Eagles.
