Remo Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to reigning Benin Republic high flyers Coton Sports on Monday afternoon, reports.

The friendly match held in Cotonou afforded coach Daniel Ogunmodede to guage his team’s preparedness for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Stars didn’t not get the desirable result after putting up a good shift.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede had some of his first team players available. He handed minutes to the likes of Abdulrasheed Awoyemi, Qudus Akanni, Seun Ogunribide, Nduka Junior, Dayo Ojo and Tolulope Ojo.

The Sky Blue Stars had flurry of chances to draw the curtain raiser in the first half but they were unlucky.

Midfielder Dayo Ojo had a beautiful attempt to score but the goalkeeper denied him to keep the game on level terms.

Three minutes from time, the hosts went in front much to the surprise of Stars.

Winger Tolulope Ojo went close with his header at injury time.

It was a good test for Remo Stars who will be representing Nigeria at the CAF Confederation Cup.
