AS Douanes will welcome Kwara United to Stade Général Seyni Kountché (Niamey) on Sunday for the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie. Kickoff is 4:15pm.

The visitors arrive with a 3-0 lead after their home leg and will be keen to advance to the first round with another dominant display.

AS Douanes will aim to avoid another heavy defeat on Sunday, and, while it may be too little and too late top advance further, Abdourahamane Issa Maiga’s side will at least hope to exit on a high.

Azeez Mohammed managed Kwara United, on the other hand, will hope to add to their already sizeable need with another resounding win to build confidence.

They engaged in series of friendlies which included 3-0 rout of Ajaokuta FA and participation at Value Jet Cup.

As a result, they headed into a contest against AS Douanes with plenty of competitive football under their belt.

Hoping to give themselves an enviable lead, a Wasiu Jimoh brace and Samson Paul goal had them in a comfortable victory in the first leg.

Team News

Douanes’ attack should be led by Saviour Ogbonna, who was impressive as a substitute in the first leg.

Traore Aboubacar who has played in every minute of action in the last five games for Douanes should again play a key role in defence, with Traore Yaya also set to keep his place.

Shamsu Alhassane troubled the Kwara United backline in Lagos and should certainly start in Niamey.

Wasiu Jimoh will again be a danger man after hitting two of Kwara United’s three goals in that first victory over AS Douanes.

Samson Paul will hope that his goal will be enough to warrant a starting berth on Sunday, while Samuel Chisom is bound to keep his place on the right flank.

AS Douanes Possible XI: Omar Halidou, Abduolaye Beny, Traore Aboubacar, Traore Yaya, Aboubacar Arzakou, Ogbonna Saviour, Shamsu Alhassane, Abdoulaziz Ibrahim, Sadou Moustapha, Frank Kwame, Mohammed Zayyad

Kwara United Possible XI: Adeyinka Adewale, Kabir Balogun, Muri Lawal, Abiodun Adebayo, Deji Bamidele, Afeez Nosir, Jide Fatokun, Issa Gata, Samuel Chisom, Samson Paul, Wasiu Jimoh

We say: AS Douanes 1-2 Kwara United (Kwara United to win 5-1 on aggregate)

AS Douanes come in with very little to lose given the large deficit already, but we have seen Kwara United simply being too strong and punishing their opponents, who will likely overcommit going forward.
