Rivers United striker, Bolaji Sakin has issued a warning to their next opponent, Wydad Casablanca ahead of their CAF Champions League preliminary stage matchup.

The former Horoya AC striker believes the NPFL Champions, Rivers United shouldn’t be underestimated and will give everything to beat the CAF Champions League defending champions in their next tie.

Rivers United defeated Liberian side, Watanga 3-1 on agreegate with a 3-0 home win for the Nigerian side and a 1-0 home win for Watanga on Sunday.

“Obviously the Nigeria Professional Football League isn’t the same as the Moroccan league. It is a bit underestimated. But we know the quality we have in this team. On our day, we can kill teams off.

“The first game is at Port Harcourt, too, which is important for us. If we can get the fans behind us, then we can hurt them with our counter-attacks — and with our speed.” Sakin told Sportlens360.

Bolaji Sakin, who has previously played in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup with Guinean side, Horoya AC said it felt good for him to return back to Top African Football.

“It feels good to be back in the CAF Champions League and I hope that I can use my experience to help this team do better on the continent,” Sakin stated.

Rivers United will host the Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the tie on October 7, before they travel to Mohammed V Complex a week after for the second leg.
