Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro has expressed his thoughts on the team’s scandalous 4-0 loss to Portugal in an international friendly on Thursday night.

The former European champions ran riot despite missing iconic skipper Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Super Eagles failed to come to the party despite parading the likes of Ademola Lookman, Terem Moffi, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon and Wilfred Ndidi.

Substitute Emmanuel Dennis missed a penalty when the result was 2-0. He apparently had an argument with his teammates before missing the kick.

“I think we didn’t start well in the first half,” Peseiro mused to NFF TV post match.

“We didn’t press well at the beginning.

“They have quality and created chances. We missed some aggressiveness in our approach.

“The second half was much better and we showed quality. That’s the level we want the team to be in.

“I believe we can perform well against big teams.

“We missed a penalty and conceded two more goals afterwards. My players like to fight for the badge, I believe we can improve.

“We lost balance after missing the penalty. We want to win the next AFCON. Anyone can miss a penalty,” he added.
