While it is hard to judge players future’s from tournament’s such as the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, the following five Flying Eagles players have been hugely impressive, and could have a big future in the game:

5. Samson Lawal

A box to box midfielder, Samson Lawal has great passing ability, and showed an eye for goal in the tournament. His sweet strike against Mozambique deserves to be celebrated.

The player displays the traits of Jay Jay Okocha with the way he carries the ball. Lawal has a big future ahead.

4. Onuche Ogbelu

Onuche has caught the eye with his direct passes and menacing play at the middle of the park. The youngster uses his terrific skills, and low centre of gravity to breeze past opponents.

The school boy should soon rack up diamond for his parent club Fosla.

3. Chijioke Aniagboso

The Giant Brillars youngster has been brilliant behind the sticks in the last two games for the Flying Eagles.

Aniagboso has showed the world the rich abundance of goalkeepers in the Flying Eagles that also includes Nathaniel Nwosu and Jimoh Saheed.

2. Benjamin Fredrick

One of the reasons Nigeria are in the quarter final is due to the excellent ability of Benjamin Fredrick in the centre of defence. The Simoiben product has controlled things alongside Daniel Bamaiyi.

Technically excellent, Fredrick uses his vision, defensive ability and dribbling skills very well. He isn’t afraid to build up from the back.

Benjamin Fredrick could rise further and make a move to Europe. He has been spotted by a couple of clubs.

1. Solomon Agbalaka

The left footed full back is currently the star performer for the Flying Eagles, impressing with his calmness, and awareness at the back. He also showed an eye for goal during the competition, not only netting against Egypt, but also providing an assist in the win over Mozambique.

North African clubs are sniffing around Agbalaka.

Like most Nigerian defenders, Agbalaka looks to build from the back, and has an excellent passing range.
