Feature: Why Ademola Lookman is the best fit for Arsenal

Since leaving Leciester City in 2022, Nigeria’s star man Ademola Lookman has only gone from strength to strength. He has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A with his stint at Atalanta.

Lookman has been outstanding for Atalanta since joining the club and he helped them win the UEFA Europa League last season.

The winger produced a stellar performance in the finals, scoring a hattrick against Bayer Leverkusen.

Furthermore, he scored 17 goals and picked up 10 assists in all competitions last season.

The Nigeria international is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three and he could be an asset for Arsenal if they can get the deal done.

The Gunners need a dynamic forward like him who will score goals and add creativity to the side.Due to his fine form, it is only natural that he would attract interest from some of the world’s best teams.

Most notably, Arsenal appear to be pursuing him among a host of other forwards, and here is why he would be the best man for the job.

Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling are the options available to Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.

Without Saka in the squad, Arsenal can lack that reliable match winner. As can be seen in his goals against Napoli last weekend, Lookman is one of the in form players on the planet and could be the solution to give Arsenal the same cutting edge on the counter.

Arteta has been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks due to some poor results which have seen Arsenal fall to 5th in the Premier League from last season’s second place finish.

The preferred systems vary between a 4-3-3 with two interior midfielders either side of a defensive mid and a 4-4-2 diamond.

Lookman would be better suited to the 4-3-3 as it would be the same position and formation that he has played in for Atalanta, however the diamond system may also work for him too.

While his current role at Atalanta is on the wing on paper, he plays as the focal point of attack at times.

This means that not only is his role similar to that of a striker, but he would also be suited to Arsenal’s 4-3-3.

To conclude, while there is no denying that Arsenal’s list of targets only contains phenomenal players, Lookman is the only one who can play in any attacking position as well as being the only one with experience as both a playmaker and as the main attacking threat.
