The CHAN Eagles have received a boost with new call-ups in preparation for next month’s Jollof Derby against Ghana, which serves as a final playoff for the 2025 CHAN tournament in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Nigeria will face Ghana in the first leg of the African Nations Championship playoffs scheduled between December 20 and 22, 2024, with the return match taking place a week later.
The aggregate winners will secure a spot in the 8th edition of this competition, which is exclusively for players competing in their domestic leagues across Africa.
The Super Eagles B team is set to assemble a 32-man squad for the next phase of their training camp.
Among the new call-ups are the Abia Warriors trio of Sunday Megwo, Ayodele Ezekiel, and Ali Ishaku, who will join their teammate Innocent Godwin, already named in the initial list of invitees.
Sunday Megwo, a center-forward, is currently the leading goal scorer for Abia Warriors with four goals.
Winger Ayodele Ezekiel emerged as a standout player last season, while goalkeeper Ali Ishaku delivered an impressive performance during the previous President Federation Cup.
Additionally, Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole and Lobi Stars players Suur Kumaga and Ossy Martins have also received invitations.
Winger Bernard Ovoke will join the training camp along with Aniekeme Okon and Ubong Friday from Rivers United.
U23 standout Dominion Ohaka from Water FC, who has prior national team experience, has also been called up.
He has one cap for the Super Eagles, having played against Costa Rica in a friendly.
Other players joining the squad include Kano Pillars trio Abiam Nelson, Aminu Adams, and Sudais Alibaba.
The training camp will be overseen by coaches Fidelis Ikechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, as NFF technical director Augustine Eguaveon is currently out of the country.
