Nigeria sensation Jefferson Ekhator Osayuki Shines as Italy U19 Defeats Montenegro 3-0 in European Qualifiers

Promising Nigerian-born talent Jefferson Ekhator Osayuki was on target for Italy’s U19 team as they secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Montenegro in the European Championship qualifiers.

The young Genoa forward made his mark in the match held in Archanes, helping Italy open their Group 8 campaign with a comfortable win.

Italy took control early, with Roma midfielder and team captain Mattia Mannini breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute after a balanced opening phase. Mannini’s leadership on the field was evident as he capitalized on a well-worked team effort to put Italy in the lead.

Just before the halftime whistle, Ekhator extended Italy’s advantage. In the 45th minute, he skillfully found the net to double the lead, showcasing his attacking prowess.

Moments later, he came close to scoring a second goal, but his powerful strike hit the post, denying him a brace.

In the second half, Atalanta midfielder Lorenzo Riccio added the third and final goal in the 65th minute, solidifying Italy’s dominance and putting the game beyond Montenegro’s reach.

Ekhator, who is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Italy, has been a key figure for Genoa in Serie A. Valued at approximately €3 million, he has made 12 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring once and contributing an assist.

The young forward’s contract with Genoa runs until 2029, highlighting the club’s confidence in his future potential.

With his latest performance, Ekhator continues to make a case as a rising star on the international stage, and both Nigeria and Italy will be watching closely as his career unfolds.
