Tolu Arokodare, the joint-leading scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, has agreed to extend his contract with league leaders KRC Genk, putting an end to swirling speculations about his future.
The 23-year-old Nigerian forward, who is on the radar of the Super Eagles, has been in sensational form this season, netting eight goals. His contributions have helped Genk secure a commanding five-point lead at the top of the league table.
Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad revealed that during a recent general meeting, Genk’s head of football, Dimitri de Condé, confirmed Arokodare’s commitment to the club. Despite financial challenges, including a €14 million settlement with tax authorities, de Condé assured fans that the club is not under pressure to sell its key players.
“Coveted players such as El Ouahdi and Arokodare already agreed to an extended stay in Genk a few months ago,” the report stated.
Arokodare’s current deal now runs until June 2027, reinforcing Genk’s ambitions to maintain dominance both domestically and in Europe. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at €6.50 million.
The striker also disclosed that he turned down a lucrative offer from Turkish giants Trabzonspor, signaling his commitment to Genk’s project.
With his prolific scoring and growing reputation, Arokodare remains one of the standout players in the Jupiler Pro League, and his new contract reflects Genk’s intent to build their future around him.
