Montpellier striker Jerome Akor will be out of action for “a few weeks” after sustaining a muscle strain during a Ligue 1 match against Brest, just before the international break.
In 2023, Akor joined Montpellier after an impressive time in Norway. The Nigerian forward scored 23 goals in 38 games for Lillestrøm in the 2022/2023 campaign.
The 24-year-old revealed his condition in a conversation with SCORENigeria, explaining the nature of his injury and his recovery plan.
“I suffered a strain in the abductor muscle,” Akor said. “I will be out for a few weeks and miss a couple of games, but I have already started rehab.”
Akor, who has netted three goals in 11 appearances this season, has been an instrumental player for Montpellier as they fight to avoid relegation from Ligue 1. His absence will be a blow to the team, which is heavily reliant on his attacking contributions.
Montpellier fans will be hopeful for his swift recovery as the club continues its campaign to secure safety in France’s top division. In 2019, Akor featured for the Flying Eagles, playing two games but unfortunately failed to score for Nigeria.
