Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika will miss tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League fixture between Club Brugge and Celtic as he continues to serve a three-match suspension.
The ban stems from a red card he received for a dangerous tackle during Brugge’s 3-1 loss to AC Milan in October.
Since the suspension, Onyedika has already missed Brugge’s impressive home victory over Aston Villa. His absence in the Celtic game will be a significant setback for the Belgian club as they aim to strengthen their position in the expanded Champions League group stage, where they currently hold two wins and two losses.
Onyedika has been in strong form domestically, recently scoring his first goal of the season in Brugge’s 7-0 thrashing of STVV. The Nigerian star unleashed a brilliant strike from outside the box in the 51st minute, building on goals from Christos Tzolis and others.
Onyedika’s contribution showcased his growing confidence and attacking capabilities before being substituted in the 58th minute.
Despite his absence in Europe, the suspension offers Onyedika an opportunity to rest and prepare for Brugge’s upcoming domestic clash against Dender.
Brugge will hope to have their Nigerian midfielder back at full strength to continue his impactful season upon completing his ban.
