Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has addressed the growing speculation surrounding Victor Osimhen’s future, emphasizing that the Nigerian striker’s next move will be entirely his decision.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, with a mid-season breakup clause embedded in the agreement. This clause has fueled rumors about a potential January exit, putting the Turkish champions in a precarious position.
Speaking to A Spor, Özbek admitted the clause creates challenges but reassured fans that the club is committed to retaining the star striker until the end of the season.
“He is our player this season. There is a very difficult clause for him to leave at mid-season. According to our agreement, he will play for us until the end of the season,” Özbek said.
The Galatasaray chief also dismissed external pressures that could influence the striker’s decision, stressing Osimhen’s autonomy over his future.
“No one should bend him. He will make his own decision at the end of the season. If he wants to continue at Galatasaray, he can,” he added.
Özbek was quick to counter narratives suggesting an imminent departure, noting Osimhen’s satisfaction with life in Istanbul.
“Don’t be fooled by the perception that he will leave. He is very happy to be in Turkey and at Galatasaray,” he affirmed.
Osimhen has been a key figure for Galatasaray this season, and his potential departure could leave a significant void.
