Crawley Town secured a remarkable 2-1 victory against Charlton Athletic at The Valley, marking their first away league win since the season’s opening match, thanks to a brilliant goal from Tola Showunmi.
Showunmi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a beautifully curled shot from the edge of the penalty area, finding the top corner and marking his first goal of the league season.
Charlton equalized in the 68th minute when Alex Mitchell’s diagonal pass was headed on by the unmarked Gassan Ahadme, allowing Daniel Kanu to skillfully lob the ball over goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott.
Crawley regained the lead in the 80th minute when Maynard-Brewer could only deflect Rushian Hepburn-Murphy’s shot, leaving Anderson in the right place to capitalize on the rebound.
Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu delivered a solid performance in defense for Crawley, while fellow Nigerian Ade Adeyemo also excelled in the match.
