Three Nigerians Nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November

Chelsea winger Tyrique George leads a trio of Nigerian talents nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November, alongside Sunderland’s Trey Ogunsuyi and Crystal Palace’s Jemiah Umolu.

The Nigerians are competing against Nottingham Forest’s Joe Gardner and Jack Perkins, Tottenham Hotspur winger Yusuf Akhamrich, Liverpool midfielder Kieran Morrison, and Fulham forward Callum Osmand for the prestigious award.

George earned his nomination after delivering two assists in November. He set up Donnell McNeilly’s goal against Arsenal and provided another assist for Kiano Dyer in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory over Derby County. The 18-year-old has been a key figure in Chelsea’s five-game winning streak in the Premier League 2, contributing a goal and three assists during that run.

Sunderland’s Ogunsuyi also impressed with his performances last month. The 17-year-old scored twice and provided an assist in a commanding 5-2 win over Manchester United and followed it up with another assist in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Manchester City. Ogunsuyi has been prolific this season, notching five goals in just five games.

Umolu, the league’s top scorer with eight goals, made a strong case for his nomination with a standout performance for Crystal Palace. The striker bagged a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur in their first game of November, continuing his impressive form in front of goal.

The nominations highlight the growing influence of Nigerian players in youth football as they make their mark on the Premier League 2 stage.
