Ghanaian football icon Abedi Pele has announced his intention to attend the upcoming match at the Accra Sports Stadium, where the Black Galaxies will face Nigeria in the African Nations Championship.
The three-time African Footballer of the Year visited the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Thursday, where his team, Nania FC, played a friendly match against the national team composed of home-based players.
Following the match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for his side, Abedi Pele expressed his admiration for the Black Galaxies’ performance.
“I have observed that you possess a solid team, exhibiting both physical strength and technical skill,” he remarked to the players.
“In my view, the future of Ghanaian football is promising. When you are born in this country and represent the national team, your connection, desire to succeed, bravery, and determination are essential.”
The 60-year-old former Olympique Marseille star assured the team of his support for the Nigeria match.
“You must strive to give your best for your country. I noticed not only your physical strength but also your tactical acumen, and I will be there at the Accra Sports Stadium to provide my full support,” he stated.
The Black Galaxies are set to compete against Nigeria in a two-legged tie, with the first match scheduled for December 20 in Accra.
