The Lagos Supremacy Cup 2024 has once again fulfilled its mission of discovering and promoting grassroots football talent on an international level.
Under the leadership of Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), the tournament has reached a significant milestone: 24 players from various grassroots clubs have been selected for international trials.
Reflecting on this remarkable achievement, Hajji Gafar mused, “We have a clear goal. Our considerable investment in scouting demonstrates our dedication to nurturing talent.”
“This year, we exceeded our expectations, with 24 players chosen from a pool of 200 boys—an accomplishment that establishes a new benchmark for West Africa.”
“These promising athletes, hailing from clubs such as Beyond Limits, Dino SC, Broad City, and others, are set to pursue opportunities with clubs in Europe and South America. Their dedication, talent, and enthusiasm have opened doors for them to excel on a global stage.”
“Players are preparing for trials in January and the summer transfer window of 2025, with letters of invitation expected to arrive soon,” the LSFA Chairman added.
The Lagos Supremacy Cup has established itself as a breeding ground for talent, cultivating stars poised to make their mark internationally. This success highlights the commitment of the LSFA and its collaborators in elevating grassroots football to a global phenomenon.
