Manchester United are eager to bolster their attacking options, currently featuring Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Hojlund has managed only one goal in nine Premier League appearances this season, while Zirkzee has contributed three goals in 14 league matches since his transfer from Bologna last summer.
Despite Zirkzee’s recent brace against Everton, his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain following a challenging start. Even if he remains with the club, Manchester United is still considering the addition of a new center-forward, with Victor Boniface being one of the potential targets.
Boniface has been performing exceptionally well for Leverkusen, scoring six goals in 10 Bundesliga matches before suffering a hamstring injury last month. Since joining Leverkusen from Union SG in the summer of 2023, the Nigerian international has accumulated a total of 29 goals in 49 competitive appearances.
His strong performances have not only attracted interest from Manchester United but have also prompted Leverkusen to seek an extension of his contract. Journalist Florian Plettenburg reports that the club is in discussions to extend Boniface’s current deal, which is set to expire in June 2028, potentially keeping him at the BayArena until 2029.
Leverkusen is ready to offer the 23-year-old a lucrative contract, aiming to deter any potential interest from rival clubs ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to the report, Manchester United is monitoring the Nigerian’s circumstances but has not yet initiated discussions regarding a potential transfer.
