Nigerian rising star Noah Adedeji-Sternberg made a memorable impact on his first start for Genk, scoring in their thrilling 3-2 victory over Kortrijk at the Cegeka Arena in the Belgian Pro League.
Adedeji-Sternberg’s goal was pivotal in ensuring Genk maintained their stronghold atop the Pro League standings, with the team currently leading with 38 points, four ahead of second-placed Club Brugge.
In an interview with Het Belang Van Limburg, the 19-year-old shared his excitement about the milestone. “I was proud and happy to kick off a Jupiler Pro League match for the first time,” Adedeji-Sternberg said. “I wasn’t nervous. I just wanted to show off.”
Despite his standout moment, the youngster remained grounded, acknowledging room for improvement. “It’s okay; I know I can do better. But as my match rhythm is not very good yet, I can live with it,” he added.
Born in Germany, Adedeji-Sternberg began his football journey at Royal Antwerp, steadily rising through the ranks to establish himself as a promising talent. While he has represented Belgium at the U19 level, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria, keeping fans of the Super Eagles hopeful for his inclusion in the future.
