Super Eagles Coach Augustine Eguavoen Undergoes Successful Surgery in Belgium

Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has successfully undergone a major medical procedure in Belgium, Futbalgalore reports.

The surgery, which had been delayed multiple times to prioritize Nigeria’s qualification campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), was finally completed, with sources confirming its success.

“It was a successful surgery, and he will now do the usual follow-ups,” a source close to Eguavoen revealed to ScoreNigeria.

Eguavoen, who also serves as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, was placed in temporary charge of the Super Eagles while the federation works on appointing a foreign coach.

During his absence, Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede has stepped in to oversee the CHAN Eagles, currently preparing for a crucial 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) playoff against Ghana.

Eguavoen’s commitment to Nigerian football has been unwavering, even as he faced personal health challenges. He delayed his surgery to focus on guiding the Super Eagles in their quest to secure a spot at the next AFCON, highlighting his dedication to the team and the nation.

As Eguavoen begins his recovery, the NFF and football fans across the country will be hopeful for his swift return to full health, with his wealth of experience remaining an invaluable asset to Nigerian football.
