The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has extended a warm welcome to the Super Eagles B team as they arrived in Uyo to prepare for the critical second leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualification match against Ghana’s Black Galaxies.
The team touched down in Uyo on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, after a goalless draw in the first leg held at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 22. The initial match was fiercely contested, leaving the qualification outcome uncertain.
The return leg is set for Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 5 pm, taking place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. This match will be pivotal in determining which team advances to the CHAN tournament, scheduled to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1 to 28, 2025.
Mr. Samuel Umoh, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, shared his optimism regarding the Super Eagles B team’s prospects. “We are privileged to host the Super Eagles B team in Uyo and are committed to providing them with top-notch facilities for this vital match. We are confident in their ability to triumph over Ghana and secure their place in the CHAN tournament,” he stated.
Additionally, the Akwa Ibom State FA Chairman urged football enthusiasts both locally and nationally to come out in full support of the team during this important match.
