Super-Eagles eligible midfielder Baba Adeeko opened his goal account for the season in Wigan Athletic’s tough 1-0 victory over Rotherham at the New York Stadium.
Adeeko, a talented and versatile midfielder, has been a key part of Wigan’s team since making his debut against Derby County last campaign.
Known for his composure and ability to shoot from a distance, Adeeko found the back of the net with a few minutes to the half-time break. However, his effort proved to be the decider and ensured Wigan secured three maximum points.
With the result, Wigan continued their impressive form in December, winning two and drawing one in their last three appearances in the league.
Currently sitting 14th with 27 points, Wigan are almost guaranteed a place in League One but would need to show more consistency to fight for a playoff spot.
Adeeko has been among the standout performers for Wigan as they hope to maintain their status in the third tier of English football. Adeeko has featured in 20 appearances in all competitions and impressed with his brilliance in midfield.
The 21-year-old has also played for youth team. He has featured for the Republic of Ireland U19 and U21 but yet to make a senior appearance, which makes him eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level.
