Michael Adedokun: Nigerian winger joins Super Eagles striker In MLS

Nigerian winger Michael Adedokun has taken a significant step in his football career, joining Major League Soccer (MLS) side CF Montreal, where he will team up with Super Eagles forward Sunusi Ibrahim.

Adedokun, a standout at Ohio University, was selected as the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 MLS Super Draft.

His impressive performance for the Ohio State Buckeyes last season, where he registered 11 goals and 11 assists, made him one of the most sought-after prospects in college soccer.

The Eruwa-born player played a pivotal role in his team’s success, leading the Buckeyes to victory in the 2024 Big Ten Tournament. His exceptional season earned him the title of 2024 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and a spot on the All-Big Ten first team.

With the move, Michael Adedokun will team up with Ibrahim Sunusi at CF Montreal. Sunusi has represented Nigeria at both the senior national team and U23 levels.

The former Nasarawa United striker earned his first call-up to the Nigerian squad for the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifiers. He made his senior debut on September 22, 2019, against Togo, scoring Nigeria’s only goal in a 1–4 defeat.
