Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has praised Lazio manager Marco Baroni for his significant role in helping him improve as a player.
Dele-Bashiru, who joined the Biancocelesti on a season-long loan from Turkish side Hatayspor during the summer transfer window, endured a slow start in Italy but is now finding his rhythm at the club.
The 23-year-old delivered a standout performance in Lazio’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Saturday, scoring his team’s only goal in the match.
Speaking to Lazio TV, Dele-Bashiru credited Baroni and his coaching staff for their efforts in his development.
“They [Baroni and the Lazio coaching staff] help me a lot, and what he [Baroni] wants me to do more is when I receive the ball, to go forward more, my body positions, things like that. So I’m trying to implement that into my game,” the midfielder said.
A product of Manchester City’s academy, Dele-Bashiru has been a key figure for Lazio this season, contributing four goals and two assists in 14 appearances. His performances underline his growing confidence and adaptation to Italian football, as he aims to become a pivotal player under Baroni’s guidance.
The Nigerian international’s development comes at a crucial time for Lazio, who are looking to build momentum in Serie A.
