Nigeria Face Tough CHAN 2024 Draw, Placed In Pot 2

The home-based Super Eagles are bracing for a challenging group stage as they prepare for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

According to reports, Nigeria will not be among the seeded teams for the tournament’s draw, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

The seeding for the biennial competition is determined by results from the last three editions of CHAN (2018, 2020, and 2022). Having failed to qualify for the previous two tournaments, the Super Eagles will be placed in a lower pot.

Despite their recent struggles, Nigeria secured their spot at CHAN 2024 by defeating perennial rivals Ghana 3-1 in the qualifiers.

Co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, along with defending champions Senegal, will occupy Pot 1, making them the seeded teams to avoid in the group stages.

CHAN exclusively features national teams comprised of players from their respective domestic leagues, making it a platform for showcasing local talent.

The tournament will run from February 1 to February 28, 2024, with Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda set to co-host.
