Nigerian defender Michael Kayode is on the verge of securing a move to the Premier League, with talks underway for a transfer to Brentford in January.
The 20-year-old fullback, currently with Fiorentina, has been struggling for game time, prompting speculation that a change of scenery could help him rediscover his form.
Brentford initially approached Fiorentina for Kayode’s services, but their proposal was rejected. Despite this setback, the Premier League club remains determined to bring the Nigerian talent on board.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Brentford is still strongly interested in Kayode and is working hard to secure the transfer. In preparation for the move, Kayode was reportedly trained separately from the rest of the Fiorentina squad, signaling his potential departure.
The Italian club has already identified Parma’s Woyo Coulibaly as a potential replacement for Kayode, further hinting that a transfer could be imminent. Other clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion, have also been linked with Kayode, but Brentford appears to be in the lead.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla confirmed that both Brighton and Brentford had contacted Fiorentina about the defender, with the Italian club now more open to a sale than they were during the summer transfer window.
