Nottingham Forest optimistic about securing Ola Aina agreement following Manchester City developments

Reports indicate that Manchester City has pinpointed Ola Aina as a potential successor to Kyle Walker, yet Nottingham Forest is actively working to secure the right-back with a new contract.

Forest has emerged as one of the surprise teams in this Premier League season, currently sitting in second place, just behind Liverpool at the halfway point.

Several players at the City Ground have excelled this season, including Aina, whose impressive performances have attracted the attention of major clubs like City.

According to The Sun, the reigning Premier League champions view Aina as a viable long-term option to replace Walker.

With Aina’s contract set to expire this summer, there is a risk that City could acquire him. A follow-up report from Football Insider suggests that their interest might be appealing to the player.

However, it is also reported that Forest is making significant efforts to retain the 28-year-old.

Negotiations for a new contract have reportedly been in progress for a considerable time, and the club is optimistic about finalizing a long-term deal with Aina.

His performances have been so noteworthy that Jamie Carragher included him in his team of the season thus far at the Premier League’s midpoint.

Aina has participated in 19 Premier League matches this season, scoring two goals and completing the full 90 minutes in all but two of those games.
