Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting that he has agreed to join Galatasaray on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old, who has been a key figure for Fenerbahce since his move from Queens Park Rangers in 2021, insists no such deal is in place, according to Soccernet.ng.
Osayi-Samuel, whose contract with the Turkish giants is set to expire in the next six months, is now free to negotiate with other clubs.
Despite heavy speculation linking him to a move to Galatasaray, as well as Premier League interest, the Nigerian international remains focused on his current club and has expressed a willingness to extend his stay at Fenerbahce if contract discussions are fruitful.
Fenerbahce’s management, keen to clarify the rumors, held talks with Osayi-Samuel after reports surfaced claiming he had reached personal terms with Galatasaray. In response, the defender was unequivocal about his future: “There is no such situation. I want to stay at Fenerbahce,” he stated.
In an effort to resolve the matter, Fenerbahce invited Osayi-Samuel’s agent to Istanbul for further discussions on a potential contract extension.
The rumours, which have sparked widespread debate on social media, also mentioned Nigerian teammate Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli. It was suggested that Osimhen had influenced Osayi-Samuel’s alleged move, but these claims seem to lack credibility.
Osayi-Samuel has been a standout performer for Fenerbahce, making over 157 appearances, contributing seven goals and 14 assists.
Despite his impressive record, he has reportedly turned down several contract extension offers, fueling speculation about his future.
While links to Premier League clubs persist, with a return to England being a potential dream for the defender, Turkish media outlets continue to suggest he may remain in the Super Lig. In a recent twist, Osayi-Samuel was spotted attending a Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal match in London, further stoking rumors.
For now, Fenerbahce is eager to secure his services for the long term, but no agreement has been reached yet. Clubs in both Turkey and England are closely monitoring the situation as Osayi-Samuel keeps his options open while continuing to focus on his commitments with Fenerbahce.
