Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed Ethan Nwaneri has sustained a muscle injury and will miss the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United on Tuesday.
Nwaneri has been in excellent form for the Gunners in the Carabao Cup. The young midfielder has scored three goals in three games in the League Cup.
He has displayed good performances in recent weeks in the Premier League, replacing the injured Bukayo Saka on the right wing. He impressed against Brentford and netted his second Premier League goal against Brighton.
Unfortunately, he was replaced in the first half by Gabriel Martinelli and consequently suffered a muscle injury, as Arteta confirmed by Arteta during his press conference ahead of the Newcastle clash.
The Arsenal manager revealed the young midfielder sustained a muscle injury and would be sidelined for a few weeks. He said, “He’s picked up a muscular injury, he will be out for a few weeks.”
With the absence of Saka, the injury is a big blow to the Gunners ahead of the clash against Newcastle, and Arteta would search for a cover on the right wing.
