Emmanuel Ekong, son of former Super Eagles star Prince Ikpe Ekong, has expressed his excitement after completing a move to Swedish champions Malmö FF, citing the club’s winning mentality as a key factor in his decision.
Ekong, 22, signed a five-year contract after transferring from Italian Serie A side Empoli. The forward shared his delight in joining a club with high ambitions.
“It feels great to finally be there, I’ve been longing for this. I feel that this is absolutely the right step for me considering the ambitions Malmö FF has and I want to be part of a journey with a team that always plays to win,” Ekong stated.
Returning to Swedish football, Ekong expressed confidence that his playing style would thrive with Malmö’s approach.
“It will be fun and exciting to play Swedish football again. I think the team’s way of playing will suit me well, I am fast, technical and like to challenge,” he said.
Ekong also praised the club’s reputation and fanbase, emphasizing his goal of winning titles with the team.
“I hope to score a lot of points and help the team. I know I’m going to a good club, everyone I’ve talked to has told me that. I look forward to winning titles and playing in front of nice and passionate supporters in Malmö.”
Ekong will aim to make an immediate impact as Malmö FF continue their pursuit of domestic and European glory.
