Nigeria’s Godwin Saviour netted an early goal, but it was insufficient to secure a win for Al Akhdoud against the star-studded Al Nassr, which boasts players like Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The match, which took place on Thursday night, saw Al Akhdoud take an unexpected lead in the sixth minute with Saviour’s third goal of the season. However, they were unable to hold onto their lead against Al Nassr’s powerful offense, ultimately losing 3-1.
Godwin was a key player for the Flying Eagles during the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand, where he played a pivotal role in three goals across four matches.
Following the tournament, he was elevated to Nigeria’s Olympic national team and made his long-awaited debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly match against Algeria in September 2022.
Godwin Saviour has previously played for Plateau United, KV Oostende, Roeselare, and Casa Pia.
