Chelsea Coach Enzo Maresca Praises Tosin Adarabioyo After FA Cup Brace Against Morecambe

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has heaped praise on Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo following his impressive performance in the 5-0 FA Cup victory over Morecambe on Saturday evening.

Adarabioyo was instrumental in the win, scoring Chelsea’s opening goal and later adding the third to help the Blues secure a dominant victory and progress to the next round of the competition.

His brace took his tally to three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.

Reacting to Adarabioyo’s standout display, Maresca expressed his satisfaction with the defender’s attacking contribution, highlighting his ability to exploit space during the game.

“It was a picture of the game as most of the time he was the only one with that amount of space because all the rest, they were man-to-man around the box so he was the one who could carry the ball and try that option so we are happy for him,” Maresca told the club’s official website.

The Italian manager further commended the defender’s attacking mindset despite his primary role as a center-back, emphasizing the importance of taking risks when the opportunity arises.

“He can do that but as a central defender you struggle to see them on the edge of the box attacking. But when you arrive there, we have to try that type of solution,” Maresca added.

Adarabioyo’s impressive performance is expected to further boost his confidence as he continues to solidify his place in Maresca’s starting lineup.
