Brentford are reportedly in pole position to secure the signing of Fiorentina fullback Michael Kayode during the winter transfer window, with manager Thomas Frank’s side actively working to finalize the deal.
The 20-year-old Italian U21 international has struggled for regular playing time in Serie A this season, prompting interest from several clubs seeking defensive reinforcements.
Brighton & Hove Albion have also shown interest, but Brentford appear to be frontrunners in the pursuit. According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina prefer a loan move for Kayode with conditions ensuring they retain some control over his future.
However, Brentford are pushing for a permanent transfer in January, hoping to bolster their defensive options for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà further confirmed on social media that Brentford are “working to close” the deal for Kayode on a loan agreement, though it remains unclear if the transfer will include an option or obligation to buy.
Kayode, known for his defensive versatility and attacking support from the flanks, is keen on securing more consistent game time as he continues his professional development.
