Former Nigerian goalkeeper Alloy Agu has voiced his endorsement for the newly appointed Super Eagles Manager, Eric Chelle.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has entrusted Chelle with the responsibility of guiding the national team towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
In a conversation with Completesports.com, Agu recognized that there may be doubts regarding Chelle’s qualifications for the position, given his level of experience.
Nonetheless, he expresses confidence in the NFF’s choice and believes that with adequate support, Chelle has the capability to achieve success.
“I am delighted that the NFF has appointed a new coach in Eric Chelle to manage the Super Eagles.
“Many may feel that Chelle [lacks experience], but then the NFF must have seen reasons behind his appointment, and I believe he will succeed with the senior national team if given the free hand to operate,” Agu said.
Agu expresses a strong belief in Nigeria’s potential to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, highlighting the crucial role of a constructive mindset among both players and coaching staff.
“There are no limits when it comes to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. With a positive approach from the players and coaches, I am very hopeful that Nigeria will make it to the World Cup,” Agu remarked.
Additionally, Agu emphasized the necessity of supporting Chelle and equipping him with the essential tools for success. “We need to rally behind him and provide guidance where needed; this will contribute to the team’s development,” he added.
