Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu could become the first signing under former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Besiktas during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Onuachu, who joined Southampton from Belgian club Genk, has struggled to find form in the Premier League despite an impressive loan spell in Turkey.
The Nigerian striker had a successful stint at Trabzonspor last season, scoring 17 goals in 25 matches. However, he has made only 12 appearances for Southampton this season, with limited playing time and minimal impact.
Onuachu has been linked with several Turkish clubs, including Trabzonspor, but the latest reports from Sabah suggest that Besiktas are preparing a surprise move for the striker.
The Black Eagles are keen to reinforce their attacking options, especially with Ciro Immobile reportedly unsettled in Istanbul.
Solskjær is reportedly close to finalizing his deal to take charge of Besiktas following the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst in December.
If the Norwegian manager’s appointment is confirmed, Onuachu could be his first major signing as the club looks to strengthen its attack ahead of the second half of the season.
Besiktas’ new president, Serdal Adalı, is reportedly leading the negotiations with Southampton for a potential deal for Onuachu, who remains under contract with the Saints until June 2026.
