Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Napoli have reportedly discussed the potential summer transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during negotiations over Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to Rudy Galetti on TEAMtalk.
The French champions have long been admirers of Osimhen and could make a concrete move in the upcoming transfer window.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen is fully committed to his campaign in Turkey, where he has been instrumental, scoring 11 goals so far. The Super Eagles forward is focused on winning a trophy with the Turkish side this season before deciding on his next destination.
However, the strong relationship forged between PSG and Napoli during the recent Kvaratskhelia deal could pave the way for a smooth negotiation regarding Osimhen.
Reports suggest that groundwork is already being laid for the move, with the French giants eager to secure the striker’s signature before competition intensifies.
Napoli is expected to demand €75 million (£63.4m/$78.1m) for Osimhen, a release clause applicable to foreign clubs. PSG is reportedly exploring the option of spreading the payment over multiple years, a strategy they successfully employed in their acquisition of Kvaratskhelia.
The potential transfer could also deal a significant blow to Manchester United, who have reportedly been monitoring Osimhen for a summer move.
According to TEAMtalk, United began exploring the possibility of signing the 24-year-old in late December, but PSG’s proactive approach and strong financial position may give them an edge.
Osimhen’s performances in Turkey and his value as a prolific goal-scorer have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the Nigerian international is likely to be at the center of a fierce bidding war between top clubs, with PSG currently in pole position to secure his services.
