Carney Chukwuemeka Rejects Everton and West Ham to Seal Borussia Dortmund Move

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has opted for a loan move to Borussia Dortmund, rejecting offers from Premier League clubs Everton and West Ham, Football Insider reports.

The 21-year-old is currently in Germany, where he is set to undergo a medical at Dortmund’s training facilities before finalizing the transfer. Chelsea had been open to his departure in the January window as he is not part of new manager Enzo Maresca’s immediate plans.

Despite late interest from Everton and West Ham, Chukwuemeka favored a switch to the Bundesliga, following a path similar to English stars like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham. Dortmund’s reputation for developing young talent was a key factor in his decision, with the move offering him much-needed game time.

So far this season, the England Under-21 international has featured for just 130 minutes across five appearances in the Europa Conference League and EFL Cup. With limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge, he was eager for a fresh start.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown previously predicted that Chukwuemeka would leave Chelsea on loan rather than on a permanent deal. The young midfielder will now aim to prove himself at the highest level in Dortmund.

Born in Austria, Chukwuemeka is fluent in German, which is expected to ease his transition to life in the Bundesliga.
