Miguel Gutiérrez mocks Uche after collision in Getafe’s 2-1 win over Girona

Girona defender Miguel Gutiérrez has revealed what he told Getafe’s Nigerian midfielder, Christantus Uche, after a first-half collision during Getafe’s 2-1 victory over Girona on Friday night.

Uche had opened the scoring for Getafe before former Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral netted the winner after Girona had equalized in the second half.

However, in the first half, Uche remained on the ground after a collision with Gutiérrez, seemingly using the moment as a time-wasting tactic. The Girona defender, frustrated by the delay, mocked Uche by sarcastically suggesting an ambulance be called.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the match, Gutiérrez admitted to DAZN:

“I told him that we should probably call the ambulance.”

The moment, which was caught on the match broadcast, highlighted the tension between the two players as Gutiérrez believed Uche was exaggerating his injury.

Despite the incident, Uche continues to impress for Getafe this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in La Liga. His performances have placed him in contention for a call-up to the Nigerian national team for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
