Former Italian manager Fabio Liverani has shared insight on the situation for Marco Baroni, the Lazio to start Fisayo Dele-Bashiru against Venezia despite injuries to key players.
Dele-Bashiru has had a torrid time settling in at Lazio in the league. Despite showcasing himself in European competitions, the Nigerian midfielder has struggled to adapt to football in England.
The 24-year-old has scored three goals in the league all season, a contrast to his excellent performance and return in the UEFA Europa League.
Dele-Bashiru has scored two goals and provided two assists in six Europa League games as Lazio progress to the Round of 16.
With Lazio facing injuries to key players, the Nigerian International is expected to get another chance to impress and adapt in midfield.
Despite the situation, Liverani shared a different opinion, highlighting the only reason Baroni would opt to feature Dele-Bashiru from the start.
In an interview with radiosei.it, Liverani believes only if Read, the winter signing isn’t ready to compete.
“It is an important match that Lazio needs to get important points and confirm their growth.”
“If he were to choose Dele-Bashiu, it is probably because Reda has not conveyed great confidence in this beginning of the adventure.”

Dele-Bashiru would hope to rediscover his force and earn a chance to be called for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
