Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is optimistic Atalanta has the qualities to compete for the Scudetto title with both Napoli and Inter Milan.
Lookman has been on scintillating form for Atalanta since the start of the campaign – and also demonstrated that with a brace against Empoli despite earlier criticism from his manager over the penalty missed during their Champions League loss against Club Brugge.
The brace has increased his tally for the season to seventeen goals and provided seven assists in 28 matches across all competitions to ensure Atalanta are in the title race against Napoli and Inter Milan.
Speaking on Skysport after the victory over Empoli, Lookman described the win as a ‘fundamental’ victory. The Nigerian forward further expressed optimism about the chances of Atalanta competing with Napoli and Inter Milan for the Scudetto title.
“The team scored 5 goals, and the important thing was to win. A fundamental victory. Good moment, let’s look forward to trying to get the most. Atalanta can worry Napoli and Inter”.
Atalanta are currently third on the log with 54 points, two points behind Napoli, who sit second, and three points behind Inter Milan, who sit at the summit.
