Premier League club AFC Bournemouth have expressed interest in signing Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, as they prepare for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Sportitalia.
The Cherries brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea last summer but remain uncertain about securing the Spaniard on a permanent deal. With that in mind, Okoye has emerged as a potential target for Bournemouth, who are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping options.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international joined Udinese in 2023 and has since established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. His performances were instrumental in helping the Zebrette avoid relegation last season.
Okoye, a former Watford player, previously played in the Dutch Eredivisie for Sparta Rotterdam, where his impressive displays earned him a move to England. He was also linked with a transfer to Inter Milan last summer, but a move to the Italian giants did not materialize.
However, the Nigerian goalkeeper has rejuvenated his career with his performance for Udinese, recording three clean sheets and conceding just 23 goals in 16 league appearances.
With Bournemouth monitoring his situation, Okoye could soon find himself back in English football, this time in the Premier League.
