West Bromwich Albion is reportedly considering a transfer for Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho as the January transfer window approaches, according to ElSevillista.
The Spanish news source indicated on December 5 that both West Brom and Watford are “closely monitoring” the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward in anticipation of a possible January acquisition, whether on loan or as a free agent.
In the meantime, Iheanacho maintained his impressive form in the Copa del Rey, scoring for Sevilla against Olot on Thursday night.
The publication has labeled Iheanacho as “one of Sevilla’s biggest sporting failures,” suggesting that he is seeking an exit from the club in January.
Given his extensive experience in English football, Iheanacho could be a valuable addition for any team in the Championship.
However, a significant obstacle to securing his transfer may be his salary. As reported by Capology, the Nigerian international earns £76,715 per week, a sum that would likely be prohibitively high for West Brom.
