Scottish champions Celtic and Italian giants AC Milan are both reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa, has struggled for game time under manager Enzo Maresca, sparking interest from multiple clubs.
Chukwuemeka has been left out of Chelsea’s Premier League squad and has made just four appearances across two competitions— the UEFA Conference League and the Carabao Cup.
The player is reportedly unhappy with his lack of minutes and is looking to leave Stamford Bridge in search of more playing time.
According to Calciomercato, both Celtic and AC Milan have expressed interest in Chukwuemeka, with the Scottish club considered the favorites to secure his signature.
Brendan Rodgers’ side sees the Chelsea midfielder as a key addition to their squad, while Milan, led by technical director Geoffrey Moncada, is aiming for a loan deal with an option to buy after failing to land Chukwuemeka in the summer.
Moncada is in active discussions with the player’s agent and is keen to control the situation. Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka has reportedly given his approval to a move to Milan, waiting for the Italian side to make a decisive move in the transfer market.
While Celtic are in pole position to sign the player, Milan are not backing down and will continue to pursue the midfielder. Chukwuemeka, however, is said to prefer a move to Milan, setting up a potential battle between the two clubs as January approaches.
