Lazio Manager Marco Baroni Identifies Areas for Improvement in Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

Lazio manager Marco Baroni has provided valuable insights into the areas where Fisayo Dele-Bashiru can enhance his performance after his notable display in the 3-1 UEFA Europa League win over Ajax on Thursday night.

Dele-Bashiru, who joined Lazio from Turkey during the summer transfer window, continued to impress with his contribution to the victory, scoring Lazio’s second goal of the evening.

After Ajax equalized early in the second half through Bertrand Traoré’s strike, the Super Eagles midfielder restored Lazio’s lead with a well-taken goal, marking his second in the tournament.

Following the match, Baroni praised Dele-Bashiru’s physicality and technical ability but emphasized the need for further development in terms of his decision-making and execution on the pitch.

“He comes from a different kind of football, where there is less application. He can identify well in this role, he has a devastating physicality, he is also technical,” Baroni said.

“The thing that he has to improve, and he is doing it, is to bring the speed of his head to that of his legs. When he does that he becomes very high level.”

Baroni further explained that the midfielder’s potential is clear, highlighting how Dele-Bashiru’s strength and speed have already made an impression in training.

“Even in training, when he breaks away and goes to catch someone he is really strong. An application that grows from game to game, from training session to training session,” the manager added.

Despite his strong performance in the UEFA Europa League, Dele-Bashiru has faced challenges in Serie A, scoring just one goal in seven appearances.
