Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca praised his young team after the 3-1 victory over Astana in Kazakhstan which earned the Blues progress to the knockout stage of the UEFA Conference League.
The Italian gaffer started Nigerian born Tyrique George in the explosive game.
The English-Nigerian contributing significantly to the victory.
“I’m also happy for the young players who helped us win the game. I was impressed by all of them. The ones who started, Tyrique [George], Sam [Rak-Sakyi] and Josh [Acheampong] all did very good. So I’m very happy for them and the ones that came on in the second half, I’m pleased,” he said after the game.
Born to Nigerian parents in 2006, George has been making significant strides in Chelsea’s youth ranks, impressing coaches with his exceptional abilities.
Last season, George’s performances for Chelsea’s U18 and U21 teams were outstanding, where he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances across competitions such as the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, and EFL Trophy.
