Black Galaxies head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has underscored the significance of the upcoming match as Ghana prepares to take on Nigeria in the first leg of their 2024 CHAN qualifier.
This important fixture is set for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, kicking off at 16:00 GMT. It marks the first of two encounters that will decide which team progresses to the 2025 CHAN tournament, scheduled to be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
In his remarks prior to this pivotal game, Dramani emphasized the commitment and cohesion within the team.
Ghana is striving to achieve consecutive CHAN appearances for the first time since 2011 and 2014. Although the Black Galaxies have not yet claimed the CHAN title, they reached the finals in 2009 and 2014.
“We tried as much as possible to put in place a culture that will have us respect one another, devoid of where you are coming from, and also to appreciate that you are the best quality in the country. So everybody knows a clear purpose of what is at stake, and this applies to both the technical staff and the playing body,” he remarked.
The team has been in intensive camp training, determined to make a strong case against their long-standing rivals, Nigeria.
