Nottingham Forest’s Nigerian fullback, Ola Aina, has expressed his excitement over his team’s remarkable form in the Premier League this season.
Aina’s comments came after Forest secured a dominant 2-0 victory against Brentford on Saturday evening at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The win lifted Forest to fourth place on the Premier League table with 31 points.
In the 38th minute, Aina scored the opening goal, calmly slotting home a cross from Williams to break the deadlock in the first half.
In the second half, Anthony Elanga added a second goal with a composed finish into the bottom right corner.
Reflecting on the team’s position and their impressive performance, Aina told Premier League Productions.
“It’s a bit of a dream [to be in the top four]. It’s good to get the three points and good for the fans. They deserve it as well.”
The 27-year-old praised the unity within the squad and the tactical influence of manager Nuno Esprinto Santos.
“We’re working well as a group. [The manager] has his philosophy and he’s brought that into the club. When he arrived it was a bit touch and go, but we’ve got the group now and we feel at ease.”
On his goal, Aina reminisced about his goal-scoring days as a youngster, saying; “When I was younger, I used to score goals left, right and centre. I’m just happy I got one today and helped the team get the three points.”
Since the start of the season, Aina has been a standout performer for Nottingham Forest.
The Super Eagles fullback has scored two goals in seventeen games in the Premier League.
