Ex-AC Milan coach Fonseca Blames Chukwueze Injury for Draw Against Roma

Former AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has pointed to the injury of winger Samuel Chukwueze as a key factor in his team’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma in Serie A on Sunday.

Chukwueze, who was named in the starting lineup, made a strong impact in the match, showcasing his skill and energy throughout the first half. However, the 25-year-old Nigerian was forced to leave the pitch just two minutes after the hour mark due to an injury.

Fonseca, who has come under scrutiny following a string of disappointing results, claimed Chukwueze’s injury disrupted Milan’s game plan and ultimately played a part in their failure to secure all three points.

“In the first half, we created several chances to score. Very fair attitude from the players,” he said after the game.

“But with Chukwueze’s exit, we lost a lot and took a lot of risks. We deserved to win, but we missed many chances.”

The draw left AC Milan frustrated as they were unable to capitalize on their dominance in the first half, with several missed opportunities proving costly. It also proved costly has Fonseca was sacked after the result.

As Milan continues to struggle for consistency, the team will hope for a swift recovery for Chukwueze as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
