‘Maybe next week’ – Alonso provides update on Boniface’s return from injury

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is edging closer to a return to action after being sidelined with a thigh injury sustained during international duty last November.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward faced a setback in his recovery late last year, delaying his comeback. However, Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has provided a positive update, hinting that Boniface could be back on the pitch soon.

“Maybe next week, but only maybe. There is still a question mark. He is well on the way to feeling better. After that, he needs training time,” Alonso stated.

Boniface has been a key figure for Die Werkself this season, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions before his injury.

Leverkusen will be hoping for his full recovery as they continue their Bundesliga title chase, with Boniface’s return expected to boost their attacking options significantly.
